The Cincinnati and Dayton Chapters, in concert, are showing their support for seminarians by establishing a fund to address their emergency needs.  The fund is named in honor of Father Dale Peterka who served as the State Chaplain.  Councils in both Chapters will be requested to annually contribute a minimum of $50.00 to the fund.  Moneys in the fund will be will be held in the treasury of the Cincinnati Chapter.  Monies in the fund will be segregated from Cincinnati Chapter funds.  The Cincinnati Chapter Treasurer will generate a monthly report on the status of the fund to both Chapter Presidents.
The voluntary contributions from the Councils in the Dayton Chapter will be made payable to The Dayton Chapter with “Fr. Peterka Fund” on the memo line.  The Dayton Chapter Treasurer will issue a check to the Cincinnati Chapter in the aggregate amount, earmarked for the fund.
The committee that will review requests for funding and will make the final determination shall be comprised of Father Perterka and the currently serving Presidents of both the Cincinnati and Dayton Chapters.  Once the committee determines the validity of the request and that it meets the fund’s criteria, the Cincinnati Chapter Treasurer will issue a check.  A review by a minimum of two out three committee members is required before funds can be expended.
The maximum funds that can be expended for any single request shall be $500.00 or 10% of the funds available in the fund at the time of the request, whichever is less.
Eligibility:  Those making a request for funding must be a full time seminarian in good standing at the Athenaeum of Ohio in a program leading to ordination as a Priest.
The Father Peterka Seminarian Emergency Fund shall be the source of last resort for funding of emergency requests.  Seminarians at the Athenaeum who come from outside the Archdiocese of Cincinnati should seek funding from their own Diocese, Parish and family prior to making a request.  However, in the case of a true emergency, funds can be provided and the committee will seek reimbursement from the seminarian’s home Diocese, Parish, or the Council and or Chapter that serves their parish.
